About IPC

Sure, some may argue that these were the only 3 English words that Wong Sifu actually knew, and they may be telling the truth, but I still found these words to be loaded with truth.

On a less cryptic note, a Mission Statement from IPC: To provide a path for people to increase their capacity to do the things that they love.

When it comes to the nitty-gritty of designing training programs, it is always a balancing act, with the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid) principle juxtaposed against the Conjugate Undulating Periodization Theory. Basically what this means is we try to combine the proven, tried and true methods, with the modern science to keep people improving over the long term without over training, getting injured or burnt out. This means we spice it up, and our spice cabinet may include:

  • Steady-State Aerobic Work
  • Interval Training
  • Escalating Density Training
  • Kettlebells
  • Olympic Lift Hybrids
  • Plyometrics
  • Body-Building
  • Body-Weight
  • Strong-man lifts
  • Mobility Drills
  • Stability Work
  • Contract Relax Stretching
  • CCA stretching etc.

Long story short, I hate machines and treadmills, and I love getting outdoors! It doesn't take a lot of technology to get strong.

And last, but not least, why I love strength, and why I promote it over many other physical qualities…

About Jason

Jason has been lifting weights and ‘working out' since 2000. It wasn't until a 2002 chance encounter with The Science of Martial Arts Training by Charles Staley that Jason began ‘training' in earnest.

Originally, strength training was a way to supplement the health benefits of Chinese Martial Arts practice, but Strength and Conditioning soon surpassed martial arts as Jason's primary passion. Since that first book, his library has expanded from one book to several shelves, devoted entirely to Sport Specific training books and DVDs, books on periodization, the secrets of Bulgarian Weightlifters and Clinical manuals on stretching.

In 2003 he spent half a year in China, with the MonksShaolin monks, training in traditional kung fu, as well as San Da, the popular sport-fighting system in the People's Republic, under a multiple-time champion, Wong Xing Long, whom you see gracing the philosophy page.

Upon his return, he resumed his education in strength, finally officially getting a certification in personal training in January 2004, after several years of training and helping others.
